The Children’s Clothes Closet is always in need of new or gently worn clothing for children of all ages—from infants, to toddlers, and teens. We ask that all clothing be clean, on hangars whenever possible, and with sizing tags visible. We are open for donations every Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm. 

The Beverly Closs Memorial Food Pantry accepts all types of non-perishable foods and provides local families with the ability to keep their family fed and healthy during times of hardship.  Protein items are always an important item that we can never have enough of on our shelves. These items listed here are especially in need to ensure our clients receive nutritiously balanced meals:

    Spaghetti Sauce
    Large cans of Meat Ravioli
    Large cans of Soup (such as Chunky Campbell’s Soup or Progresso)
    Canned Beef Stew
    Canned Chili with Meat
    Canned Corn Beef Hash
    Canned Tuna
    Canned Potatoes/Yams
    Canned or Instant Macaroni and Cheese
    Peanut Butter and Jelly
    Canned Fruits & Vegetables
    Cereal

In addition, toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner,  and deodorant are also great items for the pantry as food stamp restrictions prohibit those types of purchases.

Donations may also be dropped off at our 29 N. Hamilton Street, Suite 202 location, but please call ahead to make an appointment so we have adequate staff to assist you. We can also meet you at the lower level of the building with a cart to collect large donations.

Household items are something that you may take for granted, but for a local family in need they can be items that shine a little hope on an otherwise desperate situation and allow them to make a plain space more like a home.  Our Acts of Kindness volunteers work with over 30 local agencies/organizations to provide new or used items in very good condition to families who might otherwise be unable to afford them. Items needed include:

Electric fry pans
Blenders
Mixers
Can openers
Other small kitchen appliances and utensils
Sets of dishes
Silverware
Drinking glasses (no wine or beer glasses please)

Towels (bath/hand/wash/kitchen)
Bath rugs
Shower curtains/liners/rings

Small rugs
Irons/ironing boards

Vacuum cleaners
Small TVs
Clocks

Lamps

If you have any of these items that you no longer need/use, but they are still in very good condition, your donation will be greatly appreciated by those in need in our area. We do not accept clothing. 

Items can be delivered to Acts of Kindness, located at 8 Industry Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 in the Dutchess ARC Building between 10 AM and 2 PM Tuesdays-Thursdays. Please call 845-471-8876 ext.143 (AOK) with any questions or concerns you may have about the items you’d like to donate or if you need help delivering your item(s).

After a lifetime of enjoying the fruits of your labor with your loved ones, you have an opportunity to share your good fortune with those that are less fortunate in our community.  As part of our membership in Leave a Legacy of Dutchess County , we encourage individuals to include local non-profits in their charitable giving.

Our representative members of Leave a Legacy of Dutchess County are also members of the Planned Giving Council of the Mid-Hudson Valley, the local chapter of the National Council on Planned Giving.

You have different options for leaving a legacy, including:

A Bequest in Your Will

You can name Dutchess Outreach as a beneficiary for some amount in your Last Will and Testament.

A Charitable Remainder Trust

Upon termination of a trust that provided income to yourself or another loved one, the principal is distributed to charities named in the trust.

Your planned giving donation can do so much for those in our community who otherwise may not get to take advantage of the benefits of living in a great local community such as Dutchess County.
